Our Beliefs.
Mellinger Mennonite Church is one of the largest and oldest congregations in the Lancaster Mennonite Conference.
We officially follow the Confession of Faith in a Mennonite Perspective (1995).
We believe that salvation is only by faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
Anabaptist concepts such as the centrality of Christ, the authority of Scripture, discipleship, peacemaking,
the priesthood of all believers, believers baptism, a believer's church by confession of faith are essential.
Living a Christian life in community and in our daily lives, accountability to God and one another,
and discernment by the body of believers are also essential core values.
It is our desire as Jesus' disciples to manifest His presence in our total being:
- by receiving forgiveness and experiencing new life in Jesus upon confession of our sins.
- by our personal devotion and discipleship to Christ.
- by obeying and living out the teachings of the Sermon on the Mount.
- by being representatives of God's reconciling love and promoting peace among ourselves, our local community and to all humanity; resisting all violence and warfare.
- by being responsible stewards of God's creation, and our time, possessions, talents and abilities.
- by claiming Jesus as Lord of our life that recognizes no boundaries of nationalism, racism, or socio-economic levels.
- by living in relationship with others so that mutuality, sharing, and service become our way of life.
- by proclaiming and being the "Good News" of Jesus in all that we say and do until Jesus returns.
